OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUTH by JAWAHARLAL NEHRU Summary Inter Second Year

OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUTH
                   by JAWAHARLAL NEHRU

Lesson and Author:

This line is extracted from the essay, ‘Opportunities for Youth’ by Jawaharlal Nehru. He was a great visionary, a versatile genius and a gifted writer. He led independent India for seventeen years as the Prime Minister and is rightly considered the architect of Modern India.

Context and Meaning :

It is one of his inspiring speeches. The essay deals with the significance of consideration between thought and action which is lacking among young people. Nehru explains clearly how integration of thought and action is necessary.
He exhorts the youth to be strong in mind and body as success shuns the weak-spirited. He analyses the concept of happiness. Those who are strong in mind and body will lead a happy life. According to him, happiness is an inner state of mind. It does not rely, as many believe, on the outside environment.
He advises the youth to think of the vast opportunities of the world. For that they have keen of mind. Strong of character and fast and nimble of feet. One can meet with failures occasionally but definitely success will come to him in future.
Jawaharlal Nehru, who was close associate of Gandhiji, describes his amazing qualities.  One of the admirable qualities that he had, was to draw out the good in another person though, the other person may have plenty of evil in him.

He concludes that the youth should develop inner urge to do big things and get success. Nehru in his wonderful message to youth reminds that the quality of a nation depends on its young generation.

Dancing In The Rain By Azim Premji Inter Second year Summary

                                                                  Dancing In The Rain
                                                                                              By Azim Premji

INTRODUCTION: These lines are taken from the lesson “DANCING IN THE RAIN” written by Azim Premji. He is an Indian business tycoon and philanthropist. He devotes a lot of time and money to improve the educational system in India.

CONTEXT: The essay deals with the excessive burden – both physical and mental that is imposed on children now-a-days.

EXPLANATION: The essay opens with a disturbing report on child labour. It highlights the pathetic condition of children employed by zari factories. Premji expresses his deep concern and adds that it is inhuman to exploit children. Students have no time to meet their friends, develop relationships, explore the world and pursue their artistic interests. As such they do not grow to their full potential.

Premji says that the greatest lessons in life are learnt from children, but not from learned men.
A child daringly tries before giving up. The adults give up even before trying fearing a failure. A child is curious about the world. He gives a call to free our children from the prison like schools. Let us not make them book-worms. Let us see them enjoy the school and home alike and show them the magic of dancing in the rain.

If in the name of Liberty, pedestrians started walking in the middle, there would be accidents. Every citizen must follow rules along with the enjoyment of Liberty. For the Smooth running of society otherwise there would be social anarchy.
There are many activities like eating and dressing in which an individual enjoys freedom . But he cannot do anything that interferes with the rights of the others. For instance he should not play the music at night as the loud music would disturb the neighbours. The liberty to play a musical instrument would clash with an-other's liberty to sleep well.
